Panels

Do you have an idea for a panel or presentation you would like to have hosted at Flame con this year? Want to wow the crowd with a performance? Programming applications for Flame Con 2022 are now open!

If you have any questions please contact us at programming@flamecon.org.

What kind of panels are usually at Flame Con?

We want to put on panels that are centered on diverse, queer experiences, groups, and interests. We’re looking for programming that is unique to Flame Con (ideas that haven’t been presented at other conventions). We’re especially excited about panels that discuss topics of intersectionality, liminality, and unexpected reads of popular culture in regards to people of color, transgender and gender nonconforming people, and people living with disabilities. We want to fill a gap in representation or perspective, or center an otherwise under-visible or under-represented group or audience.

When is the deadline to submit a panel?

Panel applications will close at 11:59 PM ET on Sunday, May 1st. You should hear back from us by sometime in June whether your submission was selected or not.

What do I need to provide in my submission?

For specific items please see the submission form. Most of what we need right now is your contact information, a description of your topic, and any known equipment needs. The more details you can provide, the easier it is for us to review, but we understand that some details like who is participating, may not be known yet.

Do I have to participate/run a panel I submit?

No. You may submit an idea you would like to see Flame Con host, and indicate that you need a moderator and/or panelists. Our dedicated panels team will help find folks to participate if your panel is chosen.

How are panels chosen?

All panel submissions will be reviewed by our panels team and we will choose the submissions that best meet Flame Con’s mission and values. We strive to bring you the best queer focused programming possible each year, and look for unique, entertaining, and impactful topics to host.

Do I get a pass to Flame Con if I'm on a panel?

Yes, programming participants receive one weekend pass. Please note these passes are non-transferable, and are good for one person only. Programming passes provide entry to Flame Con 2022 during standard convention hours and do not provide admission to any additional events (eg: Fireball Party).

Are panels accessible for panelists and attendees?

We strive to make panels at Flame Con as accessible as we can. Designated seating is available in each panel for attendees. And stage access where possible for our presenters. Please see our Accessibility policy for further information. or email accessibility@flamecon.org with any questions.

Can I pick the date and time of my panel?

If you have scheduling requests, you may include that in your submission, or let us know if your panel is selected. We can’t guarantee specific days or times, but we will do our best.

What equipment is available for panels?

When you submit your idea for a panel, you will be asked about any tech you may require for your presentation. We will do our best to make sure it is available in your room ahead of time.

What if I need help setting up for a panel?

If you need assistance for getting setup, or during your panel, please provide details in your submission and our team will work with you to help you as best we can.
