World’s Largest Queer Comic Con Reveals New Flamies, Special Guests and Ticket Sales

New York, New York – January 24, 2020Flame Con, created by LGBTQ non-profit Geeks OUT, is announcing its sixth annual comic con on Saturday and Sunday, August 15-16 at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel, with tickets available today through Eventbrite. Flame Con will also bring back its Youth Day on Sunday, August 16, allowing free entry for all youths 21 years of age and under.

Featuring hundreds of creators exhibiting queer-positive comics, arts, crafts, clothes and entertainment, Flame Con is excited for another year under newly appointed Flame Con Chair, Maya Bishop, who formerly served as the head of programming.

“I cannot express how thrilled I am to be the Flame Con chair this year,” said Bishop. “Now in our 6th year, we are looking at several new ways to improve upon this already amazing event. Providing new professional opportunities to queer creators, expanding on our unique and diverse programming lineups, and continuing efforts to make Flame Con not just accessible and inclusive, but welcoming to queer geeks everywhere.”

This year, Flame Con and Geeks OUT are proud to present two new Flamies created by Terry Blas (Dead Weight, You Say Latino), Cosplay Flamie and Tech Flamie featuring a rainbow sporting drone. Flame Con is also excited to announce two of its special guests, two-time Hugo Award finalist, Chuck Tingle and Tanya DePass, founder and Director of I Need Diverse Games.

“I am so thankful to be invited to Flame Con to prove love is real and make hearts kiss this sky,” said Tingle. “The moments we create in the city of apples will make this timeline a better place and you are an important part of that. I can’t wait to trot together with our heads held high and prove love is real for each and every unique way, this is what makes our timeline special buckaroo.”

Tickets for Flame Con are on sale today via Eventbrite with options for a Full Weekend or Single Day ticket. New this year will be scheduled block releases for exhibitors, allowing three opportunities to register for tables. In addition, exhibitors will also be able to select their table space instead of a random assignment. More information on this year’s registration process can be found on our Exhibitors page.
