Nowadays, it seems like so much of the discussion around queer comics surrounds queer comics targeting kids. While it’s great that there are queer stories being made for a younger audience, there are also vibrant, provocative queer comics and graphic novels being made for an adult audience that don’t receive as much of a spotlight. In this panel, we bring together queer creators across a wide variety of genres—including Tanya Dorph-Mankey (Count the Lights), Giles Crawford (NewOldRare), Catalina Rufín (The Mutineers), Morgan Boecher (Chicken Heart Love), and Liz Frances (Publisher of Street Noise Books)—to talk about the value of comics targeted at adults, what they think makes a comic an “adult” comic, and what type of work they would like to see in the industry.
